Our dear mother Lily passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday evening, 8/10/22. We are so broken and miss this matriarch and beautiful soul, but she is in peace now after fighting as hard as she could. Lily was kind, faithful in prayer, funny, selfless, strong, gracious, and most of all…she loved her family so much.We thank you for the outpouring of love, prayers, condolences & support. Please help lift up our family, especially Dad Manny who took care of Mom Lily throughout their 48 years of marriage.Rest In Peace. Mahal Kita. 🤍With love,
Manny, Kristian & Michelle “Pia”

Lilia "Lily" Cabuay was born on January 26, 1947 to her parents, the late Miguel Liwanag Apole and the late Sofia Balderrama, in Pasig, Philippines. Lily was fondly called "Baby" by the family.Lily graduated from Centro Escolar University, class of 1969 and worked in the banking industry after graduation. Along with her flair for stylish fashion, she was often seen in full makeup and perfectly styled hair. She participated in many beauty pageants and was often festival queen of her town. She was beautiful on the outside, but her true beauty was within. She married the love of her life, Emmanuel "Manny" Cabuay on her birthday in 1974, at St. Francis Church, in Mandaluyong, Philippines. Shortly after the birth of their son, Christian, in November 1974, the family moved to the U.S. and settled in San Francisco, CA, and soon welcomed their daughter, Michelle "Pia" in February 1976. Although Lily worked a variety of jobs, her true passion was being a devoted wife, mother to her children, and "Nana" to her grandchildren.Lily loved being surrounded by family, and always looked forward to spending time with them. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining, and loved singing and dancing. She regularly kept in touch with her extended family and wide circle of friends, often sending thoughtful messages and showering them with gifts.Lily enjoyed numerous family outings and travels abroad, but her favorite 'trip' was relaxing on her bed with an abundance of pillows watching Filipino variety shows and soap operas. She is remembered with deep affection for her generosity and kind-heartedness, and as a loving, playful, thoughtful, funny, “cool”, strong-willed, and family-oriented person. Lily regularly attended mass and was faithful and sincere in her daily prayers.Lily passed away peacefully on August 10, 2022 in Dublin, CA surrounded by family. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Manny Cabuay, their children, Christian Cabuay and Michelle Oliverio, (in-laws, Jessica and Reggie) along with six grandchildren, Shirley, Phoenix, Brandon, Markie, Emilio and Phoebe; siblings Manolo and Edna, and extended family and close friends.
